Mrs. Nausheen Ahmad |
|
The idea of a Pakistan-Ireland Women's Scholarship Programme
was first put forward by Mrs. Nausheen Ahmad in early 2007; and The Yasin
Foundation was formally launched on October 10, 2007, when the Trust Deed was
signed at the Embassy of Pakistan in Dublin.
The Foundation has been formed as a charity and is
managed by a Board of Trustees, from both Irish and Pakistani backgrounds,
assisted by a fund-raising committee. (See
'Trustees' for more information; and
'Events'
for more about the work of the Fund-Raising Committee.)
|
|
| The initiative to form a Foundation specifically aimed at
helping under-privileged Pakistani women came from Nausheen Ahmad, wife of a
former Ambassador of Pakistan in Ireland and cousin of Rosheen Callender (née
Yasin), after whose parents the Foundation is named. While in Ireland , Mrs.
Nausheen Ahmad also originated and organized the first ‘International Charity
Bazaar’, a fund-raising event organized by Ireland ’s international and
diplomatic community, which has since become an annual event. |
